3. Hector’s Rebuke of Paris | Hector’s anger at Paris’ cowardice, description of Paris as obsessed with women, wish that Paris had never been born, fear that the Achaeans will mock the Trojans because of Paris’ lack of strength.

4. Paris’ Justification and Challenge | Paris acknowledges Hector’s criticism, compares Hector’s heart to an unyielding axe, proposes a duel with Menelaus for Helen, suggests a fair resolution to the war.
