2. Language and style analysis: literary devices (repetition, oxymoron), grammar and punctuation (semi-colon, dash, comma), structure impact on tone and tension
3. Character response analysis: Meg’s behaviour (messy hair as rebellion), attic bedroom symbolism (privacy vs isolation), external unkindness toward Meg’s family (with evidence)
4. Textual connections: linking final sentence ideas to earlier context, motif recurrence (e.g. mirror, weather, dog barking)
5. Quotation-based justification: supported responses to behaviour, tone, grammar and syntax, character reaction
6. Creative writing: narrative continuation based on extract, guidance to include next events, character encounters, and setting, marked for coherence, vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, narrative structure (25 marks)
